Exfoliating Face Serum with 5 Acids and 5 Humectants

Most exfoliating products contain one or two acids. This serum contains five — and that is by design. Each acid works slightly differently: one targets the very surface, another penetrates deeper, a third dissolves in oil and clears pores from within. Together they refine the skin surface more evenly and gently than any single acid could alone.

AHA Acids — Surface Refinement

Four AHA acids in this formula work in the upper skin layers, helping to even out texture and give skin a more uniform tone:

• Glycolic Acid — the smallest AHA molecule, which absorbs most effectively into the upper skin layers. Helps smooth irregularities and gives skin a more refined surface.
• Lactic Acid — a gentler AHA that simultaneously binds moisture. Suited to more sensitive skin that does not tolerate stronger acids.
• Malic Acid — complements the action of glycolic and lactic acid, enhancing the overall refining effect.
• Tartaric Acid — an AHA with antioxidant properties that helps even out skin tone more uniformly.

BHA — Clearing Pores from Within

• Salicylic Acid — the only oil-soluble acid in the formula. Unlike AHAs that work on the skin surface, salicylic acid penetrates into the pores themselves and helps clear them from within. This makes the serum particularly useful for those prone to congested pores or uneven texture in the T-zone.

Five Humectants — Exfoliation Without Dryness

This is the detail that sets this formula apart from most acid products. It contains five separate moisture-binding and softening agents that counterbalance the drying effect of the acids:

• Urea — absorbs deeply and softens even very dry skin
• Betaine — binds moisture and soothes skin during acid exposure
• Glycerin — a classic humectant
• Sodium Lactate — a component of the skin’s own Natural Moisturising Factor (NMF)
• Sucrose — a natural moisture-binding sugar

This means that after using this peel, skin feels soft and hydrated rather than dry and tight — a common issue with other acid products.

Soothing and Protective Ingredients

• Panthenol (Provitamin B5) — soothes skin after acid exposure and helps reduce potential redness
• Aloe Vera — additional calming support for sensitive skin
• Redcurrant Extract — rich in vitamin C and natural antioxidants
• Sea Buckthorn Fruit Extract — strengthens the skin barrier, leaving skin feeling refreshed
• Vitamin E (Tocopherol) — antioxidant protection

Texture and Feel

A lightweight, translucent serum that absorbs within seconds. You may feel a mild tingling upon application — this is a normal acid reaction that typically subsides within 1–2 minutes. If the tingling is intense or prolonged, rinse with water and reduce the frequency of use.

How to Use

1. Use in the evening only — acids increase skin sensitivity to sunlight.
2. Dispense 3–4 drops onto clean, dry facial skin. Avoid the eye area.
3. Gently pat in with your fingertips. Do not rinse off — leave on the skin.
4. Wait 1–2 minutes until the serum absorbs, then apply a moisturiser.
5. Use 2–3 times per week — not daily. Increase frequency gradually.
6. Always apply sun protection the following morning — this is mandatory when using acid exfoliation.

First Use

Before your first application, test on a small patch of skin (for example, behind the ear). Wait 24 hours. If there is no redness or irritation, you can use it on your face.

Suitable For

• Normal, combination and oily skin
• Skin with uneven texture, congested pores or a dull tone
• Use 2–3 times per week in the evening
• Pairs well with DERMA+ toner and the rejuvenating peptide serum (use on alternate evenings, never together)

Not Suitable For

• Very sensitive or reddened skin — start with once a week
• Skin with active inflammation or wounds
• Use alongside other acid or retinoid products on the same evening
