Natural Lip Balm with Shea Butter and Jojoba Oil
If you are the kind of person who flips the packaging over and reads the ingredients — you will like this balm. Six ingredients, each with a specific job, and none that is there just to fill out a list. A waterless formula — which means preservatives simply are not needed, because there is no water environment where bacteria could grow.
What is inside and why it matters
- Shea Butter — first position on the INCI list, the highest concentration in the formula. Forms a gentle but lasting protective layer on the lips — the kind of comfort that stays all day, not just for the first ten minutes after application. Not sticky, not heavy.
- Beeswax — the natural structural element. Gives the balm its form and an occlusive barrier that prevents moisture from evaporating from the lip surface. Works alongside shea butter — one softens, the other holds the result in place.
- Jojoba Oil — technically a liquid wax, not an oil, with an unusual property: its chemical profile is similar to skin’s own sebum. So lips accept it quickly, without the heaviness that ordinary plant oils can leave behind.
- Olive Oil Unsaponifiables — this is the ingredient worth getting to know. It is not plain olive oil. Unsaponifiables are a concentrated extract — squalene, phytosterols, natural vitamin E — obtained by isolating the most valuable components from olive oil. A more expensive ingredient, and one most lip balms on the market do not use. Gives lips a silky smoothness that feels different from a simple “greased” effect.
- Tocopherol (Vitamin E) — an antioxidant with a dual role: protects the formula itself from oxidation (so the balm does not go off) and gives lips additional protection against environmental exposure.
- Parfum — a light fragrance composition with a sea buckthorn note. The Bio2You signature in this formula too — not as an active ingredient, but as an aromatic element.
Texture and feel
The balm applies evenly and warms quickly from the temperature of your lips — becoming slightly softer, more fluid at the moment of application. After a few minutes it settles as a light, barely perceptible layer. Not the kind of balm you feel sitting on your lips all the time — more the kind where you simply forget it is there, because your lips feel comfortable.
How to use
- Apply directly to lips — clean or as a base before lipstick.
- Reapply as needed — after eating, drinking, or whenever lips feel dry.
- Also works well as an overnight balm — a thicker layer before sleep, and lips feel softer by morning.
Suitable for
- Dry, chapped lips — for daily comfort
- As a base under lipstick or lip gloss
- Winter months when lips suffer from cold and wind
- Those who prefer a short, transparent ingredient list with no compromises
